Our Passion for Coffee

We are a small batch roasting home operation and are very passionate about coffee from bean to cup. Our journey began as we searched for a high quality cup of coffee. We learned this starts at the source; where the bean is grown. This led to developing a focus on six elements that we believe are crucial for high quality coffee: Harvest, Roast, Rest, Grind, Water and Time. Therefore giving birth to the name 6PointCoffee.

We research extensively about the farms and farming techniques used to process coffee beans. This is how we came up with our first element of 6Point Coffee: HARVEST. We select farms that follow organic farming practices and many are small family farms. By choosing to support these small farms we help support their local community and livelihood.

Through much practice when it came to ROASTing the beans we learned each bean has a unique identity. We learned to optimize the balance of flavor and boldness each bean has to offer. Most of our roasts will either be a light/medium or medium roast for this reason. We practice small batch roasting allowing us to have high quality control. We take a sample from each batch we roast and brew it to ensure it means our standards before being sent to you.

We firmly believe that coffee is best used after a proper degassing period of 24 to 72 hours (this means letting the coffee beans REST for this period to allow the carbon dioxide to escape before using). We label each bag with the roast date. We also believe coffee beans begin to lose their flavor the more time that passes after being roasted. We prefer to use coffee beans within three weeks of being roasted.

One GRIND size does not fit all brewing methods. Each brew method deserves careful attention to the proper grind size. For example an espresso grind would be finer than a pourover which would be much more coarse. Consider a burr grinder with multiple grind size options. We only recommend grinding your beans just before brewing for optimal flavor and freshness.

Using quality WATER to brew is often overlooked, but can significantly impact the flavor of your coffee.

TIME is very important when considering each brew method. Prolonged hot water brewing will dilute the coffee thus affecting the flavor and strength.

As you can see we take our coffee seriously! We are honored to share our passion for coffee with others and hope you will join us on our journey.
